My ex-husband is a classic narcissist and anything David Yurman was his gift of choice for when he was both in the “love bombing” phase and then after whenever he wanted me to conveniently forget one of his epic anger tantrums where he blamed me for all of our issues….buying me things was his concrete “justification” that he loved me more than I loved him in arguments.
He never once asked me if David Yurman was ever really my jewelry taste, either….he just *assumed* that anything from Neiman Marcus was a way to buy his way into my heart….but at 22 years old, he was the first person to ever buy nice things like that for me, and I never realized that someone buying jewelry 3 weeks into a relationship was a red flag until I left him and processed what I ultimately learned to be emotional abuse. He will also be the last person to get me gifts like that so early on in a relationship because I know the red flags now!
Pay for grad school books as I finish my master’s :)
