I’m selling...

This is an engagement ring! Obviously my engagement fell through, but the ring is in pristine condition! I wore it for about six months, and took it in for its regular cleanings due to the warranty. It went straight into the box after its last cleaning. I will send it in its original box, along with all of the paperwork that I have. It’s a Rogers & Hollands ring. Here’s a summary of the information on the receipt: the stone is a diamond, the band is 14K white gold, the band has a mm width of 2.0, the stone is princess cut, the carat weight is 1/3, the diamond color is JK, and the clarity is I1. The original retail price is $900, but my ex got it on sale for $600. It really is a beautiful, simple ring. I cannot find the official size on the paperwork, but I believe this is made for a 6.5 ring size.

Because...

I was engaged, and now I’m not. My ex and I were in a relationship for three years. I really thought that I was head over heels in love, and that nothing could ever shatter the happiness that I felt. Being young and naive really can crush someone! The longer we were together, the more he drank and began to rely on my income to pay our rent, our bills, his bar tabs, etc. One night when I was out of town, he got a DUI. I thought that might be the rock bottom that he needed, but I was wrong. He drank more, partied more, would even take my car after I had gone to bed to drive out to the bars to meet his friends for drinks. The more I tried to support the idea of getting sober, the more he drank, and the more verbally abusive he became. One night he came home from the bar (drunk of course) and took his anger out on me physically. That was the last straw. I walked away in 2011 and have felt broken for a long time. I felt stupid for ever having thought I could fix it… I felt betrayed that I could love someone so deeply and have them cause me mental and physical pain… And I felt sorry for myself for a long time for having wasted three years of my life.

My bounce back plan is...

It’s been four years since I broke up with him. I am in a healthy relationship now with a stronger, more mature head on my shoulders. I recently purchased my first home, and I’ve asked my boyfriend to move in to share the experience with me. Our budget is very tight, but we’re happy. Should any of the three pieces of jewelry that I have on this site sell, I would put that money towards our bills in an upcoming month so that we could go out for a nice dinner to celebrate our new chapter. Anything extra would go into savings towards my goal for a new car.
