So maybe, at one time or another, you’ve wanted to cut your hair. I’m not just talking a couple of inches off, but a full-blown pixie cut…maybe you saw Miley rockin’ the ‘do or just knew it was something you could totally pull off, but if your hair is still long, chances are you changed your mind. You “chickening out” is an easy excuse, but any girl knows that’s not the half of it. The thing is, people- especially men- love to talk you out of such a decision, but usually not for your benefit. You see, there is a stigma around short hair…if you’re not a model (in which case it’s acceptable), you’re going to look like a lesbian (which would be soooo devastating. Note my sarcasm.). Sounds a little extreme, but even though there are exceptions to this rule, the majority of the people you know will cringe at the thought of you cutting off all that beautiful hair (that is not even theirs!). This can be extremely frustratingbecause it can affect your decision more than you’d think it would – even if you don’t realize it. But there is a simple solution.
What would Joan of Arc do? Well, besides being a total badass about it, this french heroine would chop all of her hair off without a second thought, probably without the help of other’s opinions and most likely with a large sword. I suggest starting with scissors, but by all means, don’t listen to me! Joan of Arc was known for her short locks and military wear (even off-duty) and didn’t take crap from anyone that had something to say about it (she refused to wear a dress because her male attire was so complicated it helped protect her from sexual assault…making her not only extremely cool but whip-smart). So if you want to cut your hair, don’t let anyone stop you. And if you have to start a war like Joan of Arc, we think you’ll come out on top!
