Interview With Our Favorite Sugar Tits, Violet Benson
If you’ve been on Instagram for any amount of time the past few years (which if you haven’t, who are you? Do you live in the woods in Maine? Is Atlantis real and you’re hiding out there?) then you’ve definitely heard of this boss ass babe. Violet Benson, AKA Daddy Issues makes us laugh until our abs (well I know we all have abs somewhere under all that pizza) hurt, tag our besties in copious hilarious and relatable IG posts and feel better about having somewhat messed up, what the fuck happened nights or super boring lonely nights even as adults with responsibilities.
Violet stayed anonymous on her Instagram account as well as her Snapchat until this past year, when she decided to show her face to all of her sugar tits, AKA her followers. It was at that time that she released her personal Instagram account to all as well, and kept up with the same amazing memes and heartwarming messages to all of her followers across all boards.
Violet’s most recent accomplishment (besides getting an adorable kitten, aptly named after one of everyone’s fav food, Pancakes) was the unveiling of her website, which was just launched at the beginning of April. The site has all the Daddy Issues kick ass stuff that we love, with personally written pieces by Benson herself. Some of the categories included are “Ask Daddy Issues,” where followers can ask their most personal questions and get advice from V, “Weekend Shenanigans,” and my personal favorite new category which merges together our favorite TV show with hilarious memes, quick wit and all in an easy to read format that won’t bore you, “Game of Thrones.”
I had the incredible pleasure of getting to ask the one and only Daddy Issues a few questions about life, love, and of course, breakups.
What do you do and why do you do it?
I run a few social media platforms that are very female driven where I make fun of myself about day to day things that we all go through, from binge drinking to hating your job to stalking your crush to wanting to take a shit the minute you arrive at a party. I do it because it makes me happy to make other people forget about their hard days and just laugh for a moment. I also do it to show that we all go through the same shit so I encourage everyone to just be themselves and not take life too seriously.
What’s the best gift you ever got?
The best gift I ever got was getting a second chance in life when I created my Daddy Issues brand and have been fortunate enough to have my voice heard. Not only did I finally feel like I fit in and that my voice matters but I am able to make others smile and laugh when they’re having a bad day and there is honestly nothing more rewarding for me than that.
What’s your advice for all things love, sex and dating?
When it comes to sex, love and dating, don’t ever feel pressured to do something you are not comfortable with, I say do you and what you want when you want it. If you wanna bang the bartender then fucking do it, if you’d rather take it slow and date around then do that, if you are getting over a heartbreak and need time to heal then you stay home, binge eat that pizza and masturbate those tears away. The only thing I will say though is that life is short and there are plenty of fish in the sea so don’t waste your time on the wrong people who don’t deserve you. Work on yourself first and truly love yourself before you jump into a relationship with someone new.
What’s your go to pick me up?
Music. It can help me fully feel whatever sadness I am going through and it can also lift me up when I’m feeling down. Most mornings I like to blast music in my house and dance to it naked because it makes me laugh and starts my day off with a smile.
Tell us about your first heartbreak…
How much time do I have? Just kidding. My first heartbreak sucked, it was definitely the hardest. It felt like the end of the world and I just wanted to stay in bed and never get out. I didn’t understand why I wasn’t good enough for this person and I remained hopeful that my ex will realize that he made a mistake and take me back. He could have literally took a shit on me and I still would have taken him back because I didn’t love myself enough back then to be alone. It wasn’t easy but I eventually got the strength to move on and understand that we were not meant to be and when he left me, he was doing me a favor since there is a better match out there for me (like with the rest of my exes). Looking back now though I laugh when I think how I thought my exes were my world and my everything! I am not bitter towards any of them and I feel like I learned a lot from every relationship that I’ve ever been in.
Tell us about a time you Bounced Back better than ever.
I would say probably when I made some a drastic career change from public accounting to being an online personality. I went from being depressed and crying in my car every morning before walking into the office to sitting at home, creating memes, responding to fan mail and doing what I love with a smile. Its been almost two years since I’ve been doing this and I can honestly say I have not looked back once with any regret.
