Get Fabulous #2: LEARN TO BAKE (WITH ALMOND FLOUR)

This week’s Get Fabulous challenge is to learn to bake (with almond flour). Why almond flour? Well, let’s face it, gluten intolerance is hot right now, so better roll with the punches and learn to bake something delicious and socially acceptable.

Why this rocks:

  1. Be in charge

You are in charge. Don’t you love that feeling? You don’t depend on anything or anyone (note: If the cake burns of course it’s the oven’s fault). You alone can create something here and knead it and shape it however way you like. And unlike a person the almond flour won’t complain but surrender.

  1. Indulge without guilt

I mean seriously now, almonds are nuts. Nuts are fruits. And fruits are healthy. So clearly an almond flour cake is the best thing that ever happened to your sweet cravings.

  1. Channel your inner Stepford Wife

We all would have looked so much more fabulous if we just lived in the 50s. This is your chance! Put on the apron, turn up the Sinatra and daydream the afternoon away. It’ll lift your mood and reawaken some dormant memories you completely forgot about.

  1. Geek Out

Baking is about precision because it’s about chemistry. And when you add almond flour into the mix, it’s a whole other level of interesting. There’s a lot written about it, including this gem from NPR. Take this as your cue to geek out and understand all those chemical reactions happening inside your kitchen.

Bonus Challenge: Throw a tea party at your house to show off your result! (With champagne, naturally)

Just Remember…While getting groceries, finding the right utensils and mastering the oven settings are all associated struggles, the satisfaction, pride and deliciousness that’s just around the corner absolutely make up for it. Besides, who can resist an independent woman baking her own gluten-free goodness? No one. Exactly. What are you waiting for?
