This week’s Get Fabulous challenge is to go museuming. Renzo once said “A museum is a place to lose one’s head” and we think he’s on to something. Your challenge is simple: go to a museum and take it all in.
Why this rocks:
- Get Awestruck By Genius
Going out to appreciate someone else’s work of art will fill you with joy and respect. And seeing how the world celebrates the crazy, weird and genius minds of our past and present might help you find and unleash your very own crazy, weird and genius traits. We hope so.
- Feel The Fire!
When things are created, they are created with raw passion and guttural emotion. It’s probably safe to say that Matisse was in a bit of a state when he unleashed on his canvas. So when you stand in front of that Picasso, feel it and own it. Laugh, cry, smile, stare and say whatever you need to. Don’t worry what anyone thinks. This is your moment.
- Enjoy The Silence
Silence truly is golden. Especially today, with all the tech and its incessant buzzing and beeping. Silence your head, quiet your mind and enjoy the delicious sound of nothing. Wander the corridors and hang around where the energy resonates and then move on to the next piece. No need for any excuses, explanations, justifications, or arguments. Just go where it feels good.
- Fuel Up Your Inspiration
Now’s the time to remember all the things you always wanted to do and channel back to who you really are. Start creating something that has no use other than making you happy. Take that painting class, sign up for that race and join that improv class.
Bonus Challenge: strike up a conversation with one of the smart museum-ing types and see what happens. Maybe try the line, “What do you think the artist did to celebrate finishing this piece?”.
Just Remember…A single ticket may sound scary but it’s pretty damn liberating too! The girl from the ticket booth is judging you? The other couples are starring? It’s all in your head. There really are worse things in life and just because you don’t have a +1 any longer it doesn’t mean you’re doomed to stay at home. After all, who can resist an independent women strolling a museum in her cute peep toes and A-line skirt? No one. Exactly. What are you waiting for?
