From Tinder to Cabo: The Pros & Cons of Tinder Vacations

Ok, fine. It wasn’t Tinder this time. It was Jswipe, aka the Jewish version of Tinder, but it was a swipe! Looks like swiping won’t only get you dinner and orgasm these days. It will also get you a vacation. At least, for the more advanced users like myself.
I’m not just swiping to meet THE ONE. I’m swiping for ROMANCE. Sure, most of my Tinder Fairytales don’t come with a  happily ever after, but they all come with a happy ending and lots of romance. One of my single friends always asks me “doesn’t it bother you that those moments don’t last?” And I reply that- for me, a lot of these moments are eternal. They will always live in my memory. Just because something doesn’t have a future, doesn’t mean that it isn’t real. So the guy wasn’t the one. So what? The beautiful view of the Mexican sunset from the roof top of the infinity pool is saved in my memory forever.

Like everything else, however, Tinder Vacations have their pros and cons.
The PROS:

  • You can give yourself a little tap on the back for playing theAdvanced version of Tinder. Indeed, you got a guy to spend a little more on you- not just his money, but his time. And, what’s more valuable than time? In the game of Tinder, there’s no doubt that a Tinder Vacation gets you the highest points.
  • You get to meet new people and discover new places. If you like traveling, this is a win-win. Just make sure he isn’t a psycho! (You might need to do a thorough background check first!).
  • You get to learn a lot more about the person in the shortest amount of time. A week of dating will give you no more than 2 dates. A week of vacation allows you to “move in” with the guy without commitment.  You get to discover their living habits, their daily routines and their values. It’s like a romantic boot camp or your very own episode of Bachelorette without the camera crew. No need to tape everything, unless you’re Kim K 😉

The CONS:

  • The guy might not be what you expected. He might turn out to boring, lazy, or terrible in bed. Thankfully, that hasn’t happened to me yet 😉
  • Sleeping with someone in the same bed (even if you’re not having sex) can lead to attachment, which can be problematic if you’re never going to see them again. If you are someone who gets attached easily- don’t do this!
  • Tinder vacations are a lot more fun in the beginning but eventually you start realizing that meeting THE ONE guy who will always be there for you and will love you unconditionally is PRICELESS. And no vacation, no matter how exotic it is, will be able to compare.
