Forget Ice-Cream: New Healthy Break-Up-Binge Foods To Try

Nobody likes a cliché! Unless that cliché is ice cream, of course. You see it in movies- girl gets broken up with, girl binges on ice cream. You also see it in real life when you go to buy that pint of Ben & Jerry’s with the expectation of eating just the serving size (which is a measly half cup, by the way), but somehow you end up finishing off the whole thing (you always get full when there’s about one serving left, at which point, you just say to hell with it). But here at Never Liked It Anyway, we’re all about everything in moderation – bad boys, drinking (most of the time, anyway), and comfort food. So the next time you need a little pick-me-up in the form of something sweet or salty, try out these alternatives that you’ll be less likely to regret later.

1. So Delicious Dairy Free CocoWhip Coconut Whipped Topping

While the idea of eating whipped topping in between tears is not relatively new either, this product is, and it’s totally amazing. There’s none of that nasty casein in it, so when your tear ducts are going wild and you’re a snotty mess, you don’t have to worry about milk protein revving up your mucus production. Plus, it’s lighter than ice cream, so you can eat the whole thing without making a dent- and for an extra guilt-free bonus, there’s a “light” version.

2. Snyder’s Gluten-Free Hot Buffalo Wing Sticks

Even if you’re positive you don’t have Celiac disease, some scientists say that gluten isn’t good for anybody to consume (in excess, at least). That’s why going gluten-free every now and then is a good idea, and now your favorite pretzels are! These bad boys are also completely vegan, too, but they do come in other flavors, like Honey Mustard & Onion and Original. Sounds like the perfect snack for a sob fest over all your favorite flicks.

3. Pop! Foods Sriracha Popcorn

The hot sauce sensation now comes as a popcorn topping, and let me just say, you can go through bags of this stuff. Forget overpriced, overly fattening popcorn at the movies, or even your own stovetop popped kernels, this is a healthy and flavorful version of your favorite movie time ritual. So whether you’re pigging out ‘cause you’re sad or just for the hell of it, nothing beats this gluten-free, artificial-coloring-and-flavoring-free bag of amazing.

4. Archer Farms Dark Chocolate Himalayan Salted Almonds

If you’re one of those people who can’t choose between salty and sweet, this is the snack for you. It’s made with 64% cacao (which is said to be healthy for the heart, and we won’t argue with that) and himalayan sea salt, which is said to promote healthy pH balance in your cells (like your brain cells) and promotes healthy blood sugar. On top of all of this, you don’t have to worry about binging on the whole bag, ‘cause a few of these really do go a long way to curb your cravings. But you know what’s best for you in your time of sadness, so we say whatever you need to do, go for it! Even if it means tearing into a tub of ice cream, after all.
