Are we in the right when we say that even with a million degrees out, there’s nothing that could stop you from going to the beach and letting your skin get that gorgeous, bronze shine? Sure we are. And – we absolutely understand! There’s probably nothing in this world that feels as amazing as seeing your skin get nurtured from the sunrays or taking that first dip in the coldish water on a hot, hot day… ahhh, we miss it.

Suffice it to say that alongside with the love for the beach stands the love for beach fashion, as well. The playful, somewhat alluring and maybe even eccentric little combos you can put together for a day on the beach sure add an exotic flair to the entire experience, and we love every second of it.

Going through all of our magazine cutouts, fashion tips, memory beach boxes and other fabulous inspirations, we’ve put together a list of five essential things every beach chica should have. To see what those are, read on:

Sheer pashminas/cardigans/dresses

Upgrading your swimwear and turning it into a runway-worthy outfit can be as easy as throwing over a sheer pashmina that you’ll wrap around your neck (the imitation of a dress, sort of) or use that same pashmina as a wrap-skirt and add a sheer top over your bikini. You’ll look absolutely dashing and a bit mysterious, which is always a fine look. But if you want beach clothes that are a bit more sophisticated, unique designer dresses are always a great option.

Another option (our favorite, by the way) is to wear a maxi sheer cardigan over your swimsuit number and automatically take things to a luxurious side. Do make sure though you go for the right set of colors; you want your swimsuit and whatever you choose to wear over it to be complementary colors from the same family; for instance, wearing a baby blue bikini with a pink cardigan simply doesn’t work but pairing that same baby blue with a red/black/white/purple cardigan is ace.

The right accessories

Style things up with a turban, hoop earrings, necklaces and bracelets, wide brim hats and sunnies (round are still the rage!). ‘Nuff said.

Boho-inspired items

Although boho isn’t the first choice of many, its charming, romantic and chill vibes are undeniable; we’ve seen plenty of trends come and go, but boho is standing strong no matter what. We kind of have a feeling boho is headed for a timeless title and in that respect, we think you should give it a chance.

Opt for the perfect cut of flowery crochet bikinis and be on point with the current flower trend. Paired with the right jewelry, flowy beach scarves and turbans (yes, we absolutely love them), fringe cardigans, tiny flower crowns, feather earrings or else this look is bound to make you feel seductive and romantic at the same time.

Vintage swimsuit

The beauty of vintage is that it’ll never go out of style; classic, timeless and inspiring, vintage items will make you look unique, confident and stylish. Both Retro-inspired and vintage bikinis flatter any figure and body type which makes them a perfect choice if you’ve gained a little weight and want to cover it up and still stand out in the most fashionable way. Vintage even agrees with new mums or mums-to-be; they look absolutely adorable in their vintage-inspired pieces. Too cute!

Vintage patterns often base on stripes (which are huge this season!) and single-colors like maroon, navy blue, black, olive green and similar retro shades, so choose your swimsuit wisely.

A killer pair of sunnies

If you don’t trust us, trust Jackie O – she made sunglasses the thing of all fashionable wear and gave them a timeless, extravagant stamp. The right sunnies will immediately up your fashion game on the beach and help you feel like the queen you already are! Make sure you find a pair that is on trend but agrees with the shape of your face; however, if the currently-trending shades simply don’t work with your face, drop them. Instead, wear classic shades that never go out of style.
