I met Denise for dinner on Venice Beach and we totally hit it off. She’s a total powerhouse, bad-ass entrepreneur and has enough energy to power a small village. She’s just launched her incredible venture Scriptd – a new platform to empower creators and help Hollywood tap into already engaged audiences – so they can make educated script buys and bets.
What do you do and why do you do it?
I’m the Founder and CEO of Scriptd. I started the company because everyone deserves the opportunity to tell a great story. My dream is to see an equalized Hollywood where everyone sees themselves on the screen properly represented.
What’s the best gift you ever got?
At my first job out of college the company I worked at hired one of my best friends and we got to work together side by side for a couple years. Those are a couple of the most treasured years of my life.
What’s the worst gift you ever got?
The lack of a gift on my birthday after I’d been dating a guy for 9 months…RED FLAG.
What’s you advice for all things love, sex and dating?
Honesty is first and foremost but a close second is not undervaluing yourself in the process. LEAN IN in your dating life! If you have to greatly compromise yourself to be with someone, they most likely don’t really understand you.
What’s your go to pick me up?
Dancing is the ultimate catharsis for me, especially when I do it with my amazing friends.
Tell us about your first heartbreak…
I was blindsided. We had a quick romance, he opened me up to love and left me broken. I’m grateful to him for showing me it was possible. I hadn’t really dated anyone in highschool and most of college, I was incredibly focused on my career. He came out of the blue and set the bar pretty damn high despite the ending.
Tell us about a time you Bounced Back better than ever
I moved 7 times across the US growing up so resilience became a survival tool. I’ve been through my fair share of breakups and each one is uniquely painful but it’s important to not wallow and to find the little things each day that make you happy. Exercise and a project I’m passionate about always help me!
