Tell us about your first love or heartbreak…
First love was age 16. But with each long term boyfriend to follow I was convinced it was somehow now the “real thing.” The first heartbreak came at age 24. We had been dating for two years and I was convinced he was the one, and maybe could have been at another time in our lives. The hardest part was letting go of what I thought our life together would look like and the belief I would never find love like that again….I met my husband three months later. We have been together 8 years at this point, married for 5 and have two beautiful babies and a dog. I still remember the pain of that heartbreak and probably always will, but know without it, I wouldn’t have found the right path for me.
What’s your go to pick me up?
It’s impossible to stay in a bad mood listening to Mr. Bombastic by Shaggy. It’s so silly, it can bring a smile to my face regardless of what is going on in my life.
Best gift you ever got?
Oddly, it was a lent sweater from a friend. We were having a beach weekend away and when I told her how much I liked it she insisted that I keep it. Thanks, Rachel. I wear it all the time and it reminds me how important my friendships are to me.
Worst or weirdest gift you ever got?
Any gift that makes you realize the giver doesn’t know you at all.
Advice for all matters of the heart?
Don’t marry anyone you haven’t known in every season. Travel with your partner and see how they treat you when you are sick—both very telling. If someone isn’t right for you in the easy moments, they certainly aren’t going to be right when things get hard or stressful
Tell us about a time you Bounced Back from a bad situation…
I’ve always had a bit of a chaotic life, but have always bounced back by being open to the adventures life brings my way. Try new things, meet new people and take risks. The things that mean the most to me have come from living a life outside the lines.
