A few weeks ago, I met the incredible Celeste Wilson at a cocktail evening. We sat around chatting and instantly, Celeste’s calm confidence and natural warmth made a big impact! Celeste is a foodie with a big heart and even bigger passion. She’s not only interested in the food itself, but how it transforms people, relationships and lives. We caught up on all things love, loss and bouncing back. Here’s what she had to say….
What do you do and why do you do it?
I am the creator of The True Spoon a plant based recipe and restaurant review blog! I also recipe develop, food style and create content for other brands. I love inspiring people to cook healthy recipes for themselves and their loved ones. Not to be cliche but creating food and beautiful images is so soul fulfilling that it doesn’t remotely feel like work.
What’s the best gift you ever got?
The best gift I have ever received was the gift of a free college education, before my grandfather passed away he wanted to make sure that I could go to any school of my choosing. I’m so thankful for his gift because I never had to worry about school costs , I was able to fully focus on expanding my interests and skills.
What’s the worst gift you ever got?
ha I have to say I am thankful for every gift that has ever been given to me, someone who cared about me went out of their way to do something thoughtful.
What’s your advice for all things love, sex and dating?
This is a hard question, I’m not even going to pretend like I’m an expert on these topics but I do believe that self respect, kindness, and introspection are key!
What’s your go to pick me up?
Changing my surroundings is an instant pick me up, I love good coffee shop ambiance. I would say a perfect americano with steamed almond milk at intelligentsia is my perfect pick me up.
Tell us about your first heartbreak…
I am not proud of this but I have never experienced heartbreak, I’ve been so guarded in my past relationships that I’ve never given anyone the opportunity to break my heart. I am so fortunate that my current relationship has allowed me to breakdown barriers and be truly vulnerable in the most positive way. This is the first time that I have been open enough to allow someone to break my heart, but I hope he doesn’t because he’s my person and I want to love him forever.
Tell us about a time you Bounced Back better then ever….
My Portland to Los Angeles transition is a time I bounced back better than ever. I moved to Los Angeles, like many individuals, largely because of a boy. I moved from my hometown of Portland Oregon and revolved my new life around my then boyfriend. When I realized that my relationship dependency was stunting my personal growth and that I had no desire to create a future him I knew I had to rip apart my LA life by the seams and start fresh. With lots of support from my WONDERFUL LA BFF I broke up with my boyfriend and begun my reincarnation. Now i’m madly in love, I have a group of loving friends which I’ve cultivated, and I have a blossoming career that I’m very passionate about. Huzzah!
