Cardio, Calves & Exes

Physical fitness is so in these days. I mean, all of a sudden, the gym became the next place to pick up a date? Anyways, with all this hype, we thought we’d spend time considering how avoiding your ex can actually up your fitness game. No need to fret about devoting a whole hour to the gym, avoiding an ex is sure to bring you the same health benefits of a complete gym workout. Trust us, after reading these you’ll definitely agree.

Cardio

Forget the treadmill; forget the elliptical; forget that awful spin class. One sure way to get your heart rate up is the sheer panic you feel the moment you see your ex’s face. It doesn’t matter if you completely expected it. It doesn’t matter if you’ve spent hours thoughtfully planning every word you’d say if you ever saw him again. The moment you see your ex’s face, your heart rate rises faster than you can finish that rep.

Calves

Nothing motivates you to take the stairs more than seeing your ex catching that elevator you were going to take. Why does “Ex-boyfriends and Elevator Music” sound so much like a horror movie? Doesn’t matter that your destination requires you to ascend five flights of stairs in your most uncomfortable heels. Bonus fitness points if you can beat that sleaze.

Arm & Shoulders

So you see your ex in public and there’s no place for you to go. In cases like these, the old fake phone conversation does the trick. Use one hand to hold the phone and the other to wildly gesticulate, then pretend to be in a deep conversation for the next 10 minutes… okay, 15. Maybe 20? Geez, how long does this guy take? Ahh, feel the burn in that deltoid.

Agility

Test your agility and overall alertness through the simple art of avoidance. Let’s say you happen to see your ex at the mall. Being on the continual lookout is really a great way to awaken your body’s systems and rev up your metabolism. You have to be quick on your feet when you enter a store and see the back of his head. You’re outta that store in five seconds, tops. Is there really a better way to enhance your agility? Probably not.

Biceps

At the end of a long day spent avoiding your ex, it’s time to relax and slip in a sweet relaxation induced by your favorite wine. But before you pop off those corks (which really is a workout in itself, right?), try doing bicep curls with the two bottles you’ve just purchased. Who needs weights, anyways?
