Last week, at a divine brunch at Soho House, I got to meet the unstoppable, inspiring and all-round awesome Allison Hagendorf as she was speaking on a panel about food and wellness. Allison is an all-round go-getter. She’s brought her smarts and sass to a range of endeavors from TV hosting to fitness coaching – and with an infectious energy and real, raw and relatable manner (a first in the often stuffy and precious world of wellness), she makes you want to get up and do things. And this is what she had to say about all things love, dating and bouncing back.
What do you do and why do you do it?
I’m a certified Health Coach, Behavior Change Specialist, CrossFit L1 Trainer, and creator of the blog FitToFeast.com I work with clients one-on-one to get them on their A-Game incorporating the #FitToFeast lifestyle. Everyone deserves to be their personal best, and there is nothing more rewarding than helping them get there.
What’s the best gift you ever got?
The best gift anyone could ever give me is an unforgettable meal. I’d say Mastro’s Malibu is one of my favorite spots on the planet.
What’s the worst gift you ever got?
I actually hate getting material items for gifts. I also hate gift cards! Too much pressure! I’d much rather someone treat me to an experience. See “best gift” answer above 😉
What’s you advice for all things love, sex and dating?
You have to love yourself first. Confidence is THE sexiest attribute. Don’t put too much pressure on a date. Just be in the moment and enjoy the person’s company! Be present. Be honest. Be you.
What’s your go to pick me up?
Music. Music. Music. Throw in a CrossFit session and/or a run, and I’m good. And let’s be honest, great food makes everything better.
Tell us about your first heartbreak…
I was 15. My high school boyfriend went on Spring Break and cheated on me with another girl from our high school the entire week. That was the last time I ever allowed someone to make me feel that way.
Tell us about a time you Bounced Back better than ever
I am a firm believer that if a relationship doesn’t accentuate your best self, then it wasn’t meant to be. When I’m in a relationship, I’m a great partner. When I’m single…I’m very single 😉 Enjoy each day. It’s an adventure that is yours for the taking. Eat Up Life!
