If this is you, going about your usual, day-to-day activities will be weird and might just contribute to the sadness you already feel. This isn’t true for everyone- sometimes, it only takes a short while to adjust to the same life with different people. But for many, they have to abandon some of the things they used to love just because it’s not the same anymore. And sometimes, it’s best to just throw yourself into your new life- and traveling the world might just be the way to do it. Whether you’ve been wanting to go somewhere for a while or just need to get away now, there’s never been a better time to just take some time for yourself and explore the big, wide world. Check out three of the best places to travel post break-up below, and be sure to send your ex a post-card when you get there…something along the lines of “glad you’re not here”.

Bali, Indonesia

Bali is an island in Indonesia known for its volcanoes, beautiful beaches, and yoga and meditation retreats. In an episode of “America’s Next Top Model”, Tyra Banks noted that it was a place where she truly found herself, and that “You don’t choose Bali, Bali chooses you”. The people are friendly, the architecture is awe-inducing, and the culture is rich. It’s the perfect place to do some soul-searching.

Rome, Italy

Home of the seven ancient pilgrim churches of Rome, this is a trip for those who love retracing the steps of those who came before us, and those who thoroughly enjoy history and all things art. Take the pilgrimage yourself and re-evaluate your life. Then have some authentic pizza. Pizza will never do you wrong.

Kauai, Hawai’i

If you’re not looking to travel far, this is a great spot for you. Kauai is one of the Hawaiian islands, and while most of the islands are great vacation spots, Kauai is home to some of the best beaches. It really embodies the whole idea of “Aloha”, which doesn’t just mean hello and goodbye, but love and hospitality. The laid back lifestyle of Hawaii will help you unwind, de-stress, and just thoroughly enjoy yourself. No need to plan any itinerary here, just go with the flow.

So there you have it. Wherever you go, just remember that if you’re taking this trip for yourself, you’re already taking a step in the right direction. Time heals everything- and so does a little R & R.
