“Don’t hate me ‘cause you ain’t me!” Believe it or not, the 2004 comedy “White Chicks” (starring the hilarious Marlon and Shawn Wayans) could very well be where this obnoxious slogan originated. If you haven’t seen the film, which is insanely quotable, it’s basically the story of two somewhat-disgraced FBI agents who are simultaneously trying to redeem and save themselves by transforming themselves from two African-american men to two of the blondest and whitest girls you’ve ever seen. Hilarity ensues, but underneath all the laughs are some surprising take-away lessons about dating. We’ve pulled gifs from our favorite scene of the movie and laid all these rules out for you…I mean, where better to learn dating etiquette than from satire? (The answer is many other places, I’m sure).
1. If your date is already giving you creeper vibes, they’re not going to get any better.
Get out of there fast!
2. Don’t make assumptions or judgements about somebody before you get to know them.
To be honest, hardly ever do women really want a salad. We advise against ordering for us.
3. Talking with your mouth full is actually terrifying.
But a good way to turn someone off, if that’s the goal. (Most of the time, anyway. This movie is an exception.)
4. Making sexual references early on is probably a sign that they’re not taking the date seriously.
If you’re down for a one night stand, then go for it! Otherwise, the relationship is probably not going anywhere.
5. Don’t let them break any boundaries you’ve set.
It may be awkward to tell them when you’re uncomfortable, but take care of yourself first! If they’re relationship worthy, they’ll respect that.
6. F*ck outta here with your gender stereotyping!
If a dude wants to rock out to some Vanessa Carlton, don’t drop him just because he doesn’t fit your idea of traditional gender roles. Open yourself up to be pleasantly surprised!
