15 Things We Think Will Be Big in 2015

A lot of people like to use the new year as an opportunity to sigh and complain about the events of the previous year. If I had a nickel for everytime I heard, “2014 was crap, here’s to 2015,” I’d be a millionaire in 2015. While some complaints are completely valid, and being a millionaire this year sounds like a sweet deal, sometimes it does a little better to remember all of the great, big things that happened instead. While what is considered to have been “big” is only set in stone when the year is over, here are our predictions for the things you won’t complain about at the start of 2016.

1. Rozzi Crane

This Australian up-and-comer is opening for Maroon 5 on their 2015 World Tour and is sure to make headlines with her soulful Adele-like tunes.

2. Coachella

This two-weekend, three-day music festival in Indio, California always features the most current and popular music groups and is known to attract anywhere around half a million people from all parts of the country. This year’s lineup features some great musicians, so buy your passes asap!

3. “Cinderella”

This Disney reboot, due out March, stars the likes of Helena Bonham-Carter and Cate Blanchett. Enough said.

4. “Frozen Fever”

While this short “Frozen” spin-off film will not be a full feature, it will definitely feed into that which it is named after: frozen fever. Very fitting.

5. Bella Hadid

Gigi Hadid’s lesser-known younger sister is just as talented and beautiful, and is only getting bigger. She could snag some popular campaigns this year.

6. “Paper Towns”

Based on John Green’s best-selling book by the same name, this movie stars “The Fault in Our Stars” alumni Nat Wolff (also of “The Naked Brother’s Band” fame) and model Cara Delevingne in her first lead role. Anytime someone takes a stab at a different profession than they’re used to, it’s definitely worth looking into!

7. Kendall Jenner

2014 was already a big year for the young model, who walked in tons of shows for fashion week, but her reign is not dying anytime soon, especially with massively popular friends like Cara Delevingne and Gigi Hadid. However, there is a chance she could pass them up, and I’m eagerly awaiting her fresh face at the top of the Model Pyramid.

8. “50 Shades of Grey”

Due out on Valentine’s Day, this movie based on the book with the same name is sure to hit big at the box office. While the quality of this film is questionable, it is already a phenomenon among many.

9. Quvenzhane Wallis

If you haven’t already seen “Annie”, you might not be with me on this one, but don’t be mistaken: her chipper performance, at the ripe old age of eleven, can’t be considered anything but a forecast of all the great things to come from her, possibly within this year.

10. Lazy Dating Apps

They’re getting simpler and making us lazier! Rather than trawl through a bunch of criteria, a new wave of dating apps are asking us to just focus on one thing like: looks, jobs or location. And when it comes to the name…. just drop the last e and you’ll have a dating app ready to go – hello Happn, Grindr, and Tickr.

11. Little Women LA

If you’re not already watching this show, my advice is to catch up while this show is only just starting it’s second season. This reality show about little people living in Los Angeles is frighteningly addictive.

12. Parks & Recreation

This “Office” style mockumentary is unconventionally funny and in it’s final farewell season, beginning January 13th, so catch up on Netflix if you haven’t already. You’ll thank me later.

13. “Apple” Watch

It goes without saying that Apple will have something new out this year, but all signs point towards their new watch, which they already teased at late last year.

14. Beyonce

Beyonce is already crazy popular, but she’s going to need top her surprise visual album that she dropped last year. If you’re not already, get excited.

15. The Veronicas

This powerful duo is opening for Five Seconds of Summer for a couple of dates on their tour, and while they’re not new, this is their official comeback after a hiatus. One can only expect bigger, better things from them, especially being linked to the popular Australian boyband.
