So you just broke up. There’s lots to make you feel better about life, and there’s a lot to make you feel worse. FAR worse. So bad that you might not make it. Whateever you do…steer clear of tehse movies fresh off your breakup!
10.” Titanic”-This film and its message of forever love, and “I’ll never let go, Jack,” is just not what you need to hear right now.
9. “It’s A Wonderful Life”-For those of us enduring a recent split, it is most certainly not a wonderful life, and we need to put this claim where we put our ex’s leftover unwashed socks.
8.”From Justin to Kelly”-Forget those going through a breakup. Nobody at all should watch this drivel.
7. “Last Tango in Paris”-Pornography or fine art? Either way, the obsessive nature of the characters and the very strange uses for butter aren’t good to see until you’ve moved on.
6. “Kill Bill”-Yes, it will be cathartic, but it may give you a few too many ideas.
5. “Gone With the Wind”-Scarlett O’Hara sets a terrible example here. When she and Rhett Butler/Clark Gable break up, she vows to win him back. No, no, no! Don’t obsess over a man who doesn’t love you. Move on to someone who does.
4. “Moulin Rouge”-Lovely film, and visually stunning. However, you’re probably not in
the mood for lots of singing and dancing about the beauty of love. And the emotionally shattering ending is not good for someone who’s just been emotionally shattered.
3. “Up”-It may be a kiddie flick, but it can also be a tearjerker, and there’s no need to rip open a wound with the thought of two people perfectly in love and growing old together.
2. “Silver Linings Playbook”- Yes, it has gifted actors and whatnot, but I saw this film shortly after a breakup of my own, and I’m here to tell you: this movie’s ending, where just about everything works out for the best, made me sick. I might have enjoyed it if I were in a different romantic situation, but as it was…
1. “Casablanca”- Watching this is a definite no until you find a new Bogie to tell you, “Here’s looking at you, kid.” And trust us, you will.
