Double-Life

The Gist...

Affluent family, accomplished, impressive, and loving, apparently not. Divorced after a 34 year marriage.

The Juice...

A visit to an ATM one day to begin Christmas shopping for the grandchildren only to find my ATM card was rejected for insufficient funds in a grandchildren’s college account that normally held over 50 thousand dollars. I questioned my (now ex) only to be told it was a “long story.” Apparently for many years he had been frequenting strip clubs and fell in love with a 27 year old stripper (younger than our youngest child) and began to squander all our savings accounts to provide her with all the luxuries of life she was not accustom to — condo, car, drug rehab money, money to get her children out of foster care, money to pay court fees for her arrest warrants, etc. Despite the fracturing of our family I have zero tolerance for such weak behavior, hired a cougar of an attorney, and divorced this narcissist. As the matriarch of the family I pulled my boot straps up and marched as quickly through hell as possible. My children, friends, and family refer to me as their hero. Since my years of savings are all gone and I am starting all over again in my late 50’s, I truly need to sell my wedding ring.
