This week’s question is all about those awkward conversations we have to have with our friends when we’re not quite sure their partner is the one.

Miss Friendship First Asks: How do you tell your friend (who has been open about her relationship with you in every detail) that the person she is currently dating may not be the one for her?

Angelique’s Answer: This is a very tricky one!  I think we have all been there at some point or another.  It’s hard to tell a friend that you may not be fond of their significant other.  I think a lot of factors come into play like for example why you feel that this person isn’t for her.  Is she being treated poorly?  Is she unhappy?  If you honestly feel down in your gut that this person isn’t the one for her and she’s asking for your advice you should let her know your feelings.  Explain to her that her happiness is what you want and that you are there for her either way, but since she is asking for your opinion you are going to give it.  I think it’s important to be honest with your friends, but also keep in mind that they might not take your advice.  It may also put you in an awkward position, but in the end whether or not the two of them work out, at least you gave your friend your honest opinion.  It’s not going to be easy, but I think she will respect you more for keeping it 100, that’s what real friends are for! Good luck!
